Emergency Medical Technician – Basic
The Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting an EMT – Basic course at the rescue squad building in Mathews. The course is being taught by certified, seasoned EMT instructors and will prepare you for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state certification examination.

Emergency Care and Transport of Sick and Injured, Ninth Edition plus Workbook. This book has been used before.
Price of the textbook and workbook. Those who pass the course will also have a $25.00 state testing fee.

MVRS Recognizes Dr. Young - our past OMD
On Wednesday, Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad presented Dr. Thomas Young of Gloucester with a plaque recognizing his many years of service as Operational Medical Director to MVRS. He has recently stepped down from this position. In this role, Dr. Young provided physician direction of emergency medical care delivered by basic and advanced life support providers (EMTs) of MVRS as well as establishment of medical protocols. The plaque in part read, "For outstanding dedication to helping MVRS help others".
All of us at MVRS want to thank Dr. Young for his outstanding service to us as well as all the other Rescue Squads in the area. He will be missed!
