The Team That Cares

Star of Life

March 2, 2006

Dear Friend of the Rescue Squad:

We would like to thank all of our residents and visitors for supporting the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Your contributions, in 2005, enabled us to continue to provide excellent service to the County.  We equipped our ambulances with the latest technology in cardiac monitoring  devices, as well as state-of-the art life support equipment.  Although it was expensive to do, it was well worth it.  In 2006, we will be replacing one of our older ambulances.

The Squad helped over 1000 people last year, which means our members responded to approximately three calls per day.  We managed to do that for an average cost of $350 per call, which is significantly lower than the cost per call in metropolitan areas.  We are  proud of that!

It is our intent to continue to provide you with the highest quality care possible.  We are asking for your help.  Through your contribution to the Squad, we can make it happen.

As in past years, the "Smart Alert Emergency Flashing Device" is being offered by our  Auxiliary.  This device helps you help emergency responders locate your residence quickly, saving valuable seconds.  For more information call Cricket Call at 725-7577.

We invite you to take a look at our new rescue building on Route 223 in Hudgins.  It will go into operation in April 2006 and we are delighted to report that the project will come in "on time and within budget".

Many of our citizens (individuals, clubs and businesses) have asked to help with furnishing and equipping our new facility.  We truly appreciate those offers of assistance.  If you would like to participate in such a program, call Debbie Lambert at 725-0422.  Debbie will work with you to select an item or items from our "Needs List".  We will make the purchase in your name to make it easy for you.

Again, thanks for your support.
