The following is extracted from the squad's bylaws:

Membership shall be open to all individuals 18 years and older, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or religion.

Active membership requirements are:

  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of duty per month.
  • Attendance at monthly in-house training (held the second Thursday evening of every month).
  • Attendance at monthly membership meetings (held the fourth Thursday evening of every month).
  • Complete scheduled monthly unit inventory assignments.
  • Become certified as an EMT or EVOC (driver) within the first year of membership.
  • Maintain Health Care level CPR certification, annually/biannually.

Additional requirements:

A VA State Police background check will be completed on every applicant. Applications will be rejected if there have been any convictions for any sexual criminal offense. Applications may also be rejected for past history of misdemeanors, felonies, drunken driving offenses or other justifiable causes.

An acceptable VA DMV driving record is required.
