The following is extracted from the squad's bylaws:
Membership ... shall be open to all individuals 18 years and older, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or religion. (In practice, for a number of years we have limited membership to persons who reside in Mathews County).
Membership requirements are:
...Minimum of 24 hours of duty per month.
...Attend in-house training (monthly,
evening sessions).
...Attend membership meetings (monthly,
evening sessions).
...Perform scheduled unit inventory assignments.
...Become certified as an EMT or EVOC
(driver).
...Maintain Health Care level CPR certification,
annually/biannually.
Additional requirements:
...Persons ... shall be rejected if they
have been convicted for any sexual criminal offense.
...May be rejected for past history of
misdemeanors, felonies, drunk driving offenses, or other justifiable causes.
